Week of September 23

We had some beautiful days this week. Toddler Time took advantage and spent some time outside. We took wagon rides and pointed out all the beautiful things that God made... from the clouds down to the green grass. We also spent a little time playing in the grass and looking at the first leaves to start falling off the trees.

Our story this week was Barnyard Dance by Sandra Bouyton. We also listened and danced to the book set to song.

For some dramatic play this week we worked on our animal sounds. We played Peek-A-Boo Barn by Night & Day Studios on the iPad. The little ones had lots of fun guessing what animal was next and imitating the animal sounds!

Our art project today was fingerpainting. We got a little messing painting our Muddy Pigs. Almost all our little ones enjoyed sticking their fingers in paint and getting their piggy all dirty. We did have one piggy that stayed clean. His artist isn't so sure about getting messy yet.

It has been so fun to watch the little ones this week. They have had time to adjust to coming to school. They have been very brave and are enjoying trying new things. Now, they are starting to get to know their friends. We are seeing a little more playing together, giggling together, and waving goodby when our friends leave. We are looking forward to watching our little ones continue to grow this year. Thank you for sharing them with us!

Week of September 16

We had lots of fun activities in Toddler Time this week. Our book was "I Aint Gonna Paint No More" by   Karen Beaumont. The little ones enjoyed seeing what body parts the boy from the story was going to paint next.

We were not near as messy in our art project this week. We practiced fingerpainting in zipper baggies. Our little ones liked watching their two colors of paint mixing to make another color.

We practiced our fine motor skills with beads. We worked on stringing pool noodle beads on jump rope. Our little ones liked the beads. Some were able to do this activity and others had more fun playing with the beads. This is fun activity we will do more through the year.

We sang some of our favorite songs this week. The little ones seem to really like the Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes song. Some had fun pointing to their body parts with the song.

At snack time we are all learning to fold our hands while we pray. Our Prayer is "God is great. God is good. Let us thank Him for our food. Amen". During snack time we often watch a little Micky Mouse Clubhouse. They really like the Hot Dog Dance!

We look forward to seeing all our students for another week of fun!

All About Apples

It was all about apples this week in Toddler Time!

Our story this week was 10 Apples Up On Top by Dr Seuss. We also watched a video of the book set to song. The little ones enjoyed the song, and we saw some pretty cute dance moves.

We are still enjoying the ABC song. We revisited 5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed. We also sang Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes. Here is the video we watched on the iPad.

We introduced our sensory tub this week. It is filled with rolled oats. Our little ones had fun scooping and pouring the oats. Some of the girls decided they couldn't get enough oats and climbed right in! Cora might have initiated this move :)

We practiced our fine motor skills with stickers. We added red and yellow circle stickers to our apple tree. Everyone liked stickers, and their little trees turned out so cute!

Painting this week was fun with apples. We stamped apple halves in red paint and created wonderful art work. Make sure to look take a look at our art work displayed both inside and outside our classroom. Our little ones are very proud of their creations!

April, Becky, Jill, and I enjoy our time with your little ones. Thank you for sharing them with us each week!

Week 2

Week 2 in Toddler Time was a short one. We hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day holiday. We missed our Monday little ones and look forward to seeing them again Monday.

This week we saw more confidence in our little ones. We are seeing their personalities come out little by little. We are learning to play with our friends, and to share toys. We play part of the time with smaller toys in our main room. Later in the day, we move to our second room with larger push toys and riding toys.

This week we sang the ABC song and Twinkle Twinkle. We also added 5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed. Below is the video we watched for that song.

For our sensory play this week, we played with "Ice Cream" pom poms. We held the fuzzy pom poms. We practiced putting them in cups & paper cones. We tried scooping them with spoons. We even tossed some around the room! All our little ones seemed to like the soft fuzziness.

For our art project, we used styrofoam cups to stamp circles on paper with paint. We didn't get as messy as we did with the hand prints the previous week. They seemed to like the popping noise the cups made on the paper. We added paper cones to our stamped circles to make ice cream cones.

Notes:

- September tuition is now due

- Dismissal for Toddler Time is 11:15 each day

- The Fall Family Picnic is coming up September 19 at 11am. More details will be coming in your child's binder.

First Week

We had a good first week in Toddler Time. It has been fun meeting all our little ones. Coming to school is a big step for them. We are proud of how good they have done adjusting. We know they will continue to get more comfortable each week.

This week we met our new classmates and spent lots of time exploring the rooms and toys. We got out of our classroom a little and took a wagon ride, and played with balls in the gym.

We started learning sit at the table, fold our hands, and say grace before eating our snack.

Everyone had lots of fun popping bubbles and listening to songs. Our songs for the week were ABCs, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and If You're Happy and You Know it. The videos we watched are posted below.

We also did an art project this week. We used paint and construction paper to make handprints. Some of our little ones weren't quite sure about having that messy paint on their hands. Our handprints made wings for sweet little owls to decorate our room and hallway.

Thank you Moms and Dads for sharing your little ones with us!

*** We won't have class on Monday due to the Labor Day holiday.
